[Day 1] Experimental shot - Home section

Day 1: Home Section

πŸ“† Date: Saturday, January 27th 2023

⏰ Time: 08:00 - 09:00 (I hour)

πŸ“ Location: Vinhomes Central Park, Home, Living room

πŸ‘€ Personnel: Anna

πŸŽ₯ Equipment:

  • Camera: Nikon D5600 (School's)
  • Tripod (School's)

Challenges

  • No actors during the experimental section
The experimental shot at home was only planned after I was able to borrow the camera and tripod for the official filming so I was not been able to contact Jennie early enough, hence she is not with me when the experiment is carried out. However, since it is only an experiment, I felt like the most important factor is how the shot and composition came together. Therefore, I tried setting up the camera at the location and angle according to my storyboard and for shots where camera movement is needed, I tried to practice the movement and get familiar with it, so that it could save a bit more time during the official production day. Besides not having the actor with me, the experiment turned out well and I have a better imagination about how the final outcome will look.

Lessons learned

  • Always experiment with the shots first before the actual shot. Turning the storyboard into life takes work. Sometimes, it would not turn out the way we intend it to, and that’s completely normal. We just have to improvise and find what works; experimental shots help with that.
  • Over-preparing is always better!

Behind the Scenes

This is a compilation of footage of the behind-the-scenes that I recorded using my iPad since I was alone so just set it up as a timelapse to record the process.
