Experiment #1 - Fake blood
Before the filming day, I experimented with the fake blood to avoid any risk of ruining the school's infrastructure during the filming process. All the fake blood was bought online through a website called Shopee, and the total expenses spent on the fake blood are noted on my main database, the Expenses page here. Or you could refer to them through the pictures attached on the right.
The main reason for this experiment was to:
1. Test the color of the blood to see how realistic it is and if additional mix is needed
2. Test the consistency of the blood to see how well it drip
3. Test how the blood will stain both on hand and on a smooth surface
4. Attempt to create the letter with "REVENGE" written in blood
Below is a vlog of me experimenting with fake blood. The video is approximately 18 minutes long and there are parts where I already sped up the speed to make it shorter. I also wanted to note that the video is very chaotic, I tried to be professional at first but since I was having too much fun with all the fake blood, I gradually became more energetic throughout the process. However, there are a few time stamps where I concluded all the information from the experiment so you might want to check it out first if the video is too long.
1. 05:15 - 06:06 2. 08:51 - 09:29 3. 10:03 - 11:00 4. 17:49 - 18:35
Experiment #2 - Blood drip
1. 05:15 - 06:06
2. 08:51 - 09:29
3. 10:03 - 11:00
4. 17:49 - 18:35
Before production day 2, I also carried out a small experiment to see how I could attempt to create the murder scene, where the blood drips down from the knife. The experiment was not planned so I was just casually in my bathroom and attempted to use a cup with some water and observe how it could drip down the knife. This is because I think that creating a scene using shadow would need a lot of work since we would need a very strong light that could reflect the shadow clearly, while also making sure that only the needed subject is in frame. Therefore I decided to change my idea 2 days before filming day and decided to experiment with it to see how practical the idea is.
You can view the process of my experiment with blood drip below. The video is approximately 5 minutes long so feel free to increase the speed if needed.
