Rough Cut #2

Sound Design

What I have tried to do

  • Added in the atmospheric sound to set the atmosphere
  • Attempt to replace the original audio of the breaking news in the footage by editing it and matching the action of the character with the information mentioned in the news
  • Use a variety of sounds and layer them to make the scene more realistic

What needs to be improved

  • 0:00
    • The sound of rain is too sudden so it could be adjusted to fade in from low volume to higher volume
    • The sound of rain is a bit too hard to tell and could replace it with a different audio
    • Still, a murmuring sound in the background so might want to replace it with a quiet ambient sound
  • 0:15 - 0:25
    • Footsteps are heard to be a bit fast compared to the walk so might need to adjust the position so that the audio matches the action
  • 0:19 - 0:20
    • The sound of thunderstorms seems to have  cut a not flowing smoothly so a tension sound could be added before the thunderstorms continue to overlap the cut
  • 0:29 - 0:31
    • Blood splashing and stabbing action sound too fake and should consider lowering the volume for a more realistic effect
  • 0:32
    • Heavy breathing is a bit too loud which sounds weird and the volume should be lowered down
  • 0:44
    • There is a cut in between the 2 shots so should only use the sound of one footage and duplicate it for the next footage to have a smooth effect
  • 1:07 - 1:33
    • The background music of the breaking news is too loud so needed to be smaller
  • 1:40
    • There is a discontinuity of sound when the scene cuts from a wide shot to a close-up of the character's shoes
  • 1:48
    • The sound of the housekeeper cleaning the classroom got caught so would need to replace it with an ambient sound

What I will do next

  • Sound Design
    •  Improve the audio of the shots according to the above section
    • Add in tension and dramatic sound effects
    • Add in sound effects during the transition of shots
  • Transitions
    • Add in match cut, dissolve cut, and glitching transitions
  • Title ident
    • Add in the title ident of the production company
    • Add in the credits for the director, actor and the final title ident of WHO ARE YOU?
